What This Blog Is (and What to Expect Here)

Hey, hey—welcome to my blog! I’m so glad you’re here.

I started this space because I wanted to share more than just finished photos. I wanted to share the stories behind them. The creative process. What it’s like to document real life. And, honestly, whatever else I feel like putting out into the world.

Some posts will be behind-the-scenes from sessions. Some will be personal reflections or creative experiments. Others might be about my own wedding, travel adventures, or whatever project I’m currently obsessed with.

It’s a mix of professional and personal, thoughtful and fun—kind of like me (and maybe like you, too).

📚 What I’ll Be Writing About

So, what exactly will you find here?

  • Behind-the-scenes stories from my photography work.
  • Guidance for anyone curious about booking a session.
  • Ideas for small business owners and creatives who want natural, meaningful brand photos.
  • Bits and pieces from my personal life—travel, creative projects, wedding updates, and whatever else I feel like sharing.

Most of what you’ll find is photography-focused—session stories, creative reflections, behind-the-scenes peeks, and thoughts on how I approach capturing real life. But every now and then, I’ll share something more personal. Those experiences shape how I see—and photograph—the world.

📷 Want to Take Better Photos of Your Life?

(aka Photography for Beginners)

Logo for Photo School (for the Rest of Us) featuring a Polaroid-style frame in soft blue with the words “Photo School” in bold orange lettering on a light beige background. A pink sticky note sits in the top corner, and the tagline “(for the Rest of Us)” appears in white cursive below. The overall style is warm, casual, and inviting.

One thing I hear all the time—from friends, family, and really anyone who finds out I’m a photographer—is:
“I just want to take better pictures of my everyday life—but I don’t even know where to start.”

Honestly? You’re not alone.

That’s exactly why I created Photo School (for the Rest of Us)—a casual, beginner-friendly newsletter for people who want to take more meaningful photos of real life, without buying a new camera or learning a bunch of technical stuff.

You don’t need fancy gear or perfect lighting. You just need your perspective, a little guidance, and a reminder that the best photos often come from the simplest moments.

Photo School (for the Rest of Us) is a seasonal Substack newsletter, delivered straight to your inbox each week starting this May.
You can subscribe here to get access to the very first season. (I already have five more planned—and I’m so excited about what’s coming.)

I’d love to see you over there.

🌱 What Makes Photography Meaningful (to Me)

For me, photography has always been about paying attention.
Not just to what something looks like—but to what it feels like. To the light in the room, the energy in a conversation, the in-between moments that pass unnoticed when no one’s looking.

The best photos aren’t always the technically perfect ones. They’re the ones that help you remember something exactly as it was—the moment, the atmosphere, the emotion. That’s what I’m always chasing in my work.

It’s also why I’m drawn to storytelling more than staging. My sessions aren’t about creating something artificial; they’re about documenting something real.

Photography, to me, is about noticing—and helping other people see what matters to them, too.

🔄 Who This Blog Is For

If you’ve made it this far, I have a feeling we might already be on the same wavelength.

This blog is for the curious and the reflective—the people who care about what’s real.
It’s for anyone who values honest storytelling, whether you’re behind the camera, in front of it, or just drawn to the way photography can hold a moment still.

It’s also for potential clients who want to know what working with me actually feels like.
Not just the logistics—but the vibe. The trust. The process. I believe photography should feel comfortable, collaborative, and completely human—and I hope that comes through in everything I share here.

Mostly, it’s for people who believe that the unscripted stuff—the fleeting glances, the quiet gestures, the little in-between moments—is worth remembering.

A Final Thought

I started this blog to create a little more space—for stories, for reflection, for the things that don’t always fit inside a photo. It’s a place to slow down, to notice, and to share what I’ve learned (and what I’m still figuring out) through the lens of real life.

Whether you’re here out of curiosity, considering a session, or just want to read something that feels honest—thank you for being here. I’m really glad you are.
